Where to bet
Where to Bet: Sportsbooks Worth Reading the Line On
Bet where the line is fair and the book is allowed to take your action. In the US that means a sportsbook licensed in your own state. Outside the US it means a book whose licence you can check and whose terms name your country. Everything else, bonus size included, comes second to the price on the line and the rules that settle it.

DraftKings Sportsbook
No launch offer listed
DraftKings fits readers who bet US leagues and want spreads, moneylines and parlay tools plus daily fantasy in one account. Check the price on each line rather than the brand. The limit is that it only operates in licensed US states and welcome offers vary by state.

FanDuel Sportsbook
No launch offer listed
FanDuel is a sound place to shop a spread or build a same-game parlay in a regulated state. Read the parlay price before you stack legs, because that is where the margin grows. It is only open in participating US states, plus Ontario and Puerto Rico.

BetMGM
No launch offer listed
BetMGM is worth a look when you want a large mainstream book with casino under the same login. Compare its line against the others before you bet. It is licensed state by state, and offers and products differ from one state to the next.

Caesars Sportsbook
Place your first bet of $1 or more to receive 10 100% Profit Boosts
Caesars suits bettors already in the Caesars Rewards orbit, and it runs on the William Hill derived platform. Its offer shows profit boosts rather than cash, so work out what a boost is worth at your price. It is closed in several states, so check yours first.

Bet365
Bet $10, get $200 in bonus bets with promo code
Bet365 is the pick for market depth: a wide menu of leagues, in-play markets and live streaming. Depth helps when you want a niche line priced. It is regulated by the UKGC and MGA and open in select US states only, and the interface can feel busy.
Entry $10

Pinnacle
No welcome bonus, sharp odds and no limits instead
Pinnacle is the book line shoppers cite for low margins and high limits, and it skips the welcome bonus on purpose. That makes it a useful benchmark for what a fair spread costs. Its licences are Curacao and Ontario, so check that it serves your country, and expect a plainer interface.

Which sportsbook should I use to bet the spread or the moneyline?
Start with availability, because it decides the question before anything else does. A US book is only open to you in states where it holds a licence, and the list differs from book to book. Then compare the price: the same spread at -105 instead of -110 lowers the break-even rate, and over a season that gap is the whole edge you can control. Check the half points around key numbers, and check how the book settles a postponed game or a scratched starter.
How do I read a sportsbook's licence?
US books are licensed state by state, so the licence that counts is the one issued by the regulator in the state where you are physically betting. Outside the US, look for a named regulator in the footer and search that regulator's own register. A book that names a regulator but shows no licence number or operating company has left a gap you should note. Offshore frameworks such as Curacao give a different level of oversight than a state regulator or the UK Gambling Commission.
What else should I compare before staking?
Margins and limits. A book with a low margin on spreads and totals costs less per bet than one with a fat margin and a larger welcome offer. Limits matter if you win: some books restrict accounts, and some advertise that they do not. Look at the parlay and teaser rules too, since that is where a book often hides its cost. Welcome offers change by state and expire, so read the terms rather than the headline.
What about responsible gambling?
Betting is for adults, and the minimum age is 21 in most US states and 18 or older elsewhere. Every bet has a price, and no line is a lock. Set a stake limit before kickoff and stop when it is spent. Read our responsible gambling page for limits, self-exclusion and help lines.
How is this list put together?
These are the sportsbooks SpeedBet covers, ordered by fit for readers who shop lines, not by commission. We may earn a fee if you sign up through a link, and that never moves a book up the list. Our affiliate disclosure explains how.
