Ghost Leg Parlay: How Pushes and Voids Reprice a Ticket
A push or void doesn't kill your parlay at DraftKings, FanDuel or BetMGM. It shrinks it, reprices it, or voids it whole. Here is which, and when.
Lights out
A ghost leg parlay is what is left of your ticket after a leg pushes or gets voided: the dead leg drops off, and the book reprices the parlay on the legs still standing. DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM all write that into their house rules. Where they split is the edge cases, and that is where a slip you thought was alive quietly changes price or dies.
What is a ghost leg parlay bet?
It is a parlay that lost one or more legs to a push or a void before it settled, so it pays on fewer legs than you built. Sportsbook promos borrow the ghost name too, and those come with their own terms. This piece sticks to what the house rules say happens to a standard ticket.
The dead leg is not a loss. It is not a win either. It just leaves, and it takes its share of the price with it. That is the trap: a push feels like a reprieve, but your payout shrinks to whatever the survivors were worth. If you want the base mechanics on a smaller ticket first, start with our three-leg parlay rules.
How DraftKings reprices a parlay after a push or void
DraftKings shrinks the ticket by however many legs voided or pushed and reprices it on what remains. The book's own example, as of October 2026: a 4-leg parlay with two dead legs becomes a 2-leg parlay.
Work it through. You built four legs and two of them pushed. You now hold a two-leg parlay, paid at the price of those two legs alone. The pushes add nothing. Both survivors win, you collect the two-leg price. Either one loses, the ticket loses.
Three more DraftKings cases to know before kickoff:
- If every leg voids or pushes, the entire parlay is voided and the stake comes back.
- A same game parlay with a dead leg is repriced at the odds from placement, meaning the prices on the board when you placed it, not the current ones.
- Progressive Parlays are stricter. If voids and pushes leave two or fewer legs on a Progressive Parlay, the whole bet is voided instead of repriced.
FanDuel: down to one leg, it settles as a straight
FanDuel runs the same shape: void selections drop out and odds get recalculated on the remaining legs. Carry that to the end and you hit the FanDuel case worth knowing. When all selections except one are void, the parlay settles as a straight bet at that leg's odds.
The trap sits in boosts. On a boosted parlay, one void selection kills the Odds Boost for the whole bet, regardless of how the other legs land. The ticket still resettles, but the boosted price is gone. FanDuel's published rules carry no date, so treat them as the Alberta edition as accessed in October 2026.
BetMGM: the baseball SGP exception
BetMGM reduces the parlay and recalculates the payout on the remaining legs when a selection pushes, voids or is cancelled, per its Massachusetts rules revised July 2025. Teasers and same game parlays carry their own exceptions.
The sharp one is baseball. On an SGP in any baseball league other than MLB, a single void leg voids the entire SGP. Only MLB SGP legs get recalculated. So the same dead leg that would just shrink a regular BetMGM parlay sends that baseball SGP back to stake.
What a dead leg does at each book
| Case | DraftKings | FanDuel | BetMGM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Some legs push or void | Ticket shrinks, repriced on the remaining legs | Remaining selections decide it, odds recalculated | Parlay reduced, payout recalculated |
| One leg left | Not spelled out in the cited rule | Settles as a straight bet | Not spelled out in the cited rule |
| Every leg voids or pushes | Whole parlay voided | Not spelled out in the cited rule | Not spelled out in the cited rule |
| Same game parlay | Repriced at the odds from placement | Not spelled out in the cited rule | Non-MLB baseball SGP voided on one void leg |
| Progressive or boosted | Progressive voided at two or fewer legs | Odds Boost voided on any void leg | Not spelled out in the cited rule |
Read the slip before you lock it. A regular parlay shrinks at all three books. A DraftKings Progressive Parlay voids once it drops to two legs or fewer. A boosted FanDuel parlay loses the boost. A non-MLB baseball SGP at BetMGM dies on one void. Same dead leg, four different outcomes, and none of them is the payout you saw when you built the ticket.
Fast answers
What happens to a parlay when one leg pushes?
At DraftKings, FanDuel and BetMGM the pushed or voided leg drops out and the ticket is repriced on the legs that are left. You get paid at the smaller parlay's price if the survivors all win.
What happens if every leg of a parlay is voided?
DraftKings voids the whole parlay when every leg voids or pushes, so the stake comes back. FanDuel stops one step earlier: with a single leg left, it settles the ticket as a straight bet.
Does a parlay odds boost survive a void leg?
Not at FanDuel. One void selection on a boosted parlay voids the entire Odds Boost, even if every other leg wins.
Is a same game parlay resettled the same way as a regular parlay?
Not always. DraftKings reprices an SGP at the odds from when you placed it. BetMGM voids a whole baseball SGP on one void leg unless it is an MLB game.
